About the Belews Park Project
The 110-acre property located at the corner of Ellisboro Road and Stanley Road was donated to Rockingham County by Duke Energy for the development of the Belews Park. A master plan was approved by the County Commissioners in April 2018, information can be found on the Rockingham County website. The Park is owned and operated by Rockingham County.
Phase 1 is expected to start in March, 2022 and be completed by September, 2022. Phase 1 includes an improved parking lot, restroom, short trail, and signage. Phase 1 of the development of Belews Park will be completed in partnership with DRBA.
Hunting on the property is prohibited. All hunting structures on the property will need to be removed by February 28, 2022. Any structures left on the site after February 28, 2022, will be dismantled and discarded.
Park construction will begin in early March, 2022. Public use, other than the removal of hunting structures until February 28, is prohibited from January 1, 2022 - September, 2022.
If you have interest in assisting with Phase 1 as a volunteer or donor, please contact Anna Wheeler, DRBA’s NC Program Coordinator at awheeler@danriver.org. Volunteers and donors are needed to assist in trail building, bench making, and installation.
