Great Trails State Day- Hike with Mayo River SP

Join a Park Ranger for a 2.0-mile round trip hike at Mayo River State Park, Anglin Mill Access. We will hike upriver to the NC/VA state line. On this hike, we will pass by a significant historic Saura Indian site in the Mayo River. We will continue along the Mayo, crossing over Fall Creek and out to an outcrop known as Byrd's Ledge, where we will reimagine the wonderful story of "The History of the Dividing Line Betwixt Virginia and North Carolina" as told by William Byrd.

Please come prepared to hike with sturdy shoes due to the trail consisting of rock, roots, and dirt surfaces. There will be areas that are not as developed as other sections. We will have to cross Fall Creek using boulders to keep from getting wet. Water and snacks are always recommended when hiking! There are no restroom facilities onsite, so please plan accordingly. Please no dogs at State Park programs.
